More than 350 volunteers support our students every year through tutoring, encouragement, and the opportunity to serve meals. Learn more about our opportunities below.
Ongoing opportunities include homework help, reading partnerships, or leading an enrichment activity of your favorite hobby or past-time. One-time volunteer options (like field trip support) are also available.
Hours: 3:30-6:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday (October-May) at McCarver Elementary
Help our middle school students excel in their classes! We are looking for ongoing volunteers to support homework understanding and completion, lead enrichment classes or support field trips. One-time opportunities such as transportation assistance are also available.
Hours: 2:50-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday (October-May) at Jason Lee Middle School
(9th-12th grade, college & career)
Support high school students towards graduation and college-readiness. Come help kids understand their homework, write essays, apply to colleges and scholarships. If tutoring support doesn’t fit your schedule, consider hosting a student for an internship or job shadowing experience!
Hours: 2:45-5:45 p.m. Monday-Thursday at Peace Community Center

JOIN OUR SERVICE TEAM

Peace Community Center’s Service Team works directly with students, their families, schools and community members to live out Peace’s mission of building community through education. Based at three schools in the Hilltop neighborhood, the Service Team is comprised of 13 AmeriCorps members and other faith-based Vision and Call Fellows who serve Elementary, Middle School, High School and College & Career students. JOIN OUR VISION AND CALL TEAM
Vision & Call Fellows are called to mentor children and care for families through Peace Community Center tutoring programs; reach out and build disciples for Christ in the community and connect families of Peace Community Center and the Hilltop neighborhood with the life and ministry of Peace Lutheran Church. Fellows will serve with children and youth while bridging programs of Peace Lutheran Church and Peace Community Center. The Community Meals Program has provided free dinners for the community every October and April since 1987. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 6:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday), meals are hosted at Peace Community Center and served by a volunteer local church.
